Back on the Bus

During the summer, I ride my bike to work. We've had a really nice early fall, so I've continued to ride. But now the rainy season has set in, and I'm back on the bus; the transition can be hard. I don't know what happened, but it was the most crowded bus ever. I actually missed my stop because I couldn't get through all the people to get out. Then of course I had to squish up against everyone to get out. By the time I finally made my way off the bus, I was actually in tears. But even so, I was proud of my decision to get on the bus rather than driving, and happy that I didn't try to avoid this particularly busy bus.

Still didn't really enjoy the process, however.

  1. I'm glad that, despite how unpleasant the situation was for you, that you are able to focus on the fact that you did it anyway, that you made it through, and that you are happy and proud because of it. That is a great thing. : )

  2. This sounds horrible and isn't exactly encouraging to you, but in some weird way it helps me to know that you still have difficult times and exposures. Maybe just because I sometimes beat myself up for that and wonder why - after all this time and all this exposure am I not "cured"? Though I logically know that OCD is never cured, I still LOVE the days when I am relatively OCD-free and HATE the days when I am crippled by my thoughts. I also completely agree with what Kat said - good for you!!!! That's inspiring.

  3. haha, I know what you mean. I'm happy with my progress (most of the time anyway), but I'm sure not cured and I get so annoyed sometimes.

  4. Sounds like a really unpleasant bus experience, and I don't even have OCD! But you did it; that's the main thing. Yay!!!

  5. Congradulations!

Wouldn't it be just wonderful if after doing an exposure bells would ring (in our heads, not out loud for the world to notice, lol) and we would get a golden star for being so 'good' and maybe 2 stars for an extra good exposure and after 20 stars a gift would just show up at the front door? That would help motivate me.

Oh well, but i'll give you a virtual ((HUG)) instead for a job well done! And next time should be easier, i hope.

  6. It's is facing these situations and overcoming them that makes us stronger, and improves our resilience for the next challenge.

Congratulations - It must've been extra hard using the bus after all that time over summer but now you have conquered the first bus of the autumn, maybe it will become gradually easier until spring arrives!
