Tomorrow the boyfriend is coming over to my house for dessert. This leaves me with a choice- we take our shoes off, like I generally do in my home, increasing my chances of giving him a foot fungus. Or we wear shoes, and I deal with shoe germs all over my home. It's a win-win really- I get a big exposure either way, but I'm not thrilled. I've been wanting to move the date offsite, but I know that's REALLY giving in to the OCD. Fun times.
That is tough..but way to look at the positive! Exposures do help us get better. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea.....tell him to wear socks. Then you can go shoeless without the fear of foot fungus. BTW, I know that's totally giving in! ;) Here's something to help you in your battle though - My husband has frequent foot fungus episodes - and after 10 years, I have not gotten ANY from him. And we share everything. :)
Good luck with the date at home exposure! OCD never really gives us a choice between viable options--they all generally suck--but choosing to tolerate the anxiety(which OCD never advocates) is a step toward beating it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Shana. Pretty much every time I fret about this, someone tells me about how their partner has athlete's foot and they've never had it (and I love to hear it!). So my rational self knows that some people are just susceptible to it and some people aren't. But my OCD self, on the other hand. . .
ReplyDeleteGood luck with whatever you choose to do!
ReplyDeletei can soooo relate to the shoe issue! Good luck and try to enjoy yourself! By the way, my husband also gets athletes foot and i have NEVER had it! :)
